What is it about this biz which keeps seducing those who've flirted with success? This singer/songwriter might embody the essence of the never say die musician. His own flirtations echo back to heady days when as lead man in rock outfit Saints Believe Us, he recorded album 'Invalid if Detached' in NYC's once mighty Power Station. A single release attracted heavy airplay before a classic

industry kick in the nuts came to pass. Totally disaffected, Clothier embarked on a lengthy sabbatical.... Fast forward a dozen or so years to a conventional day job & an insistent daughter who hassled him into playing ukulele at a school charity event. A spontaneous rendition of the Beach Boys classic God Only Knows was exuberantly received prompting him to record the song for his daughter, along with co-penned original Lost in Your Life. Surprised by the hybrid result & the feedback to it,he sent the recordings to Roy Sakuma, one of the worlds foremost proponents of the ukulele. Some months & a midnight phone call later he found himself on Waikiki beach, meeting the Mayor of Honolulu, performing live on KSSK FMs prime time Perry & Price show, & becoming the first European to appear at Starbucks Ukulele Festival of Hawaii. He was humbled to receive prestigious endorsements from Kanilea Ukulele & KoAloha Ukulele (two manufacturing giants of the indigenous Hawaiian instrument) & these tangible gestures of support have proven to be siginificant factors in the regeneration of a creative confidence that, hitherto, had seemingly evaporated. A songsmith of genuine pedigree, Simon Clothier offers a refreshing slant on the singer/songwriter genre. The serious work on album project ‘'Songs from a small guitar'’ has been a real labour of love, its completion delayed & its content ulitmately complicated by the still recent, devastating loss of his Father. However, with a finishing line very firmly in sight the lateral acoustic rediscovery for this accomplished journeyman from West London continues; his pop/rock origins still so very evident in the crystal clear vocals, emotive lyrics & massively infectious melodies that continue to win more & more admirers all of the way from Wimbledon to Waikiki.....
