Hawaii - July 2007

So how mad was all this?! I mean, 5 months earlier I'd speculatively sent my stuff to the wonderful Roy Sakuma & here I was in Honolulu being received by the Mayor! Crazy! It set the tone for an amazing experience in one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, populated by some of the warmest people you could ever wish to meet. Now a couple of years on & it all seems a bit of a blur - I do know that I had one of the great weeks of my life, found an audience for my music & made some friends whom I dearly hope to see again! This pic was taken by my sister Lex who came with me on the trip, held my hand on the flights & ordered my beers at the marvellous Pool Terrace Bar in the Waikiki Marriot. L to R - Kathy Sakuma, Roy Sakuma, Mayor Hannemann, Yushi (I think!) & me looking rather dazed by it all! In front of us are some of the students from Roys Ukulele Foundation, chosen specially to play for the Mayor.
